Unique, irreplaceable and valuable… the knowledge about the natural world that benefits both the San people and modern society and therewith Mother Earth. Every aspect of the Sans’ life is a lesson in harmony, conservation, sustainability, and regeneration. With 20,000 years of experience, it is their very blueprint. Their knowledge and key to survival serve as a metaphor for the unpredictable challenges in modern society. Essential, not only for us, but for the generations to come. 

Located at Harnas Wildlife Sanctuary, the Ancient San Skills Academy ensures that the San people can preserve their valuable, unique and irreplaceable knowledge about the natural world, pass this on to future generations, inspire the world with their wisdom, and generate an income to build an independent and secure future. A circular win-win situation for all, whereby the San and modern society enrich each other, blending valuable traditional knowledge with modern innovations to promote a sustainable and inclusive future.

The San in consultation with the Naankuse Foundation, have conceived the idea of building an Eco Lodge that provides the San with the opportunity to preserve their knowledge on a regular basis and offer visitors the chance to learn on a deeper level from the oldest living culture on our planet.
