The Harnas Foundation Wildlife Sanctuary
The story of Harnas begins in 1978, when Marieta van der Merwe, matriarch of Harnas, rescued a vervet monkey from certain death. Marieta’s love for animals prompted her and her husband, Nick, to turn the cattle farm into a wildlife rescue centre. Wildlife in need of help started finding its way to the caring arms of Marieta and her family.
“Harnas” means a protective shield or armor, and that perfectly epitomises what Harnas strives for – to protect the lives of animals.
Today countless orphaned, injured and conflict animals have been given a second chance at the haven that is Harnas - many of whom would have lost their lives.
Any amount donated means the world to us and them. Harnas - for the love of animals!
THANK YOU!
